A specialist IoT connectivity provider in a crowded UK market
The client is a UK-based B2B technology company supplying end-to-end IoT connectivity: multi-network SIM and eSIM services, low-power network options (NB-IoT, LTE-M), a SIM and device-management platform, static IP and private network services, and IoT hardware. It sells to system integrators, resellers and enterprises running connected fleets, maritime assets, industrial equipment and healthcare devices.
The company competes against large mobile network operators and well-funded global IoT platforms for high-intent, technical search terms. Its buyers research heavily before contacting a vendor, and increasingly ask AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity to shortlist providers.
Strong product, almost no organic presence
At the start of the engagement the website had the product depth to compete, but search engines and AI tools were not surfacing it for commercial queries. The June 2026 baseline showed:
- Zero commercial visibility: all 60 priority keywords selected for tracking ranked outside Google’s Top 100.
- No measurable organic traffic: organic sessions recorded as 0 for June 2026.
- No organic lead flow: 0 demo or contact requests attributed to organic search.
- Modest authority: Ahrefs Domain Rating of 27 and 384 referring domains.
- Invisible to AI assistants: the brand appeared in 0 of the buyer questions tested in AI tools (GEO visibility).
Objectives agreed with the client
1. Rank for high-intent platform, SIM and connectivity keywords in the UK market.
2. Build domain authority with relevant, quality backlinks.
3. Turn organic search into a measurable source of demo and contact requests.
4. Make the brand quotable by Google’s answer features and AI assistants (AEO and GEO).
Three workstreams, one weekly operating rhythm
Vionsys Marketing ran SEO, AEO and GEO as a single programme, so every piece of content, every link and every technical fix also served answer engines and AI assistants.
| SEO Rank and convert 60 commercial keywords tracked weekly Weekly blog publishing Meta tag optimisation Full image audit and optimisation Index and sitemap monitoring | AEO Own the answer Question-led and comparison content (e.g. IoT vs M2M, static IP SIM vs VPN) Topics chosen from real buyer questions Clear, direct explanations that answer engines can lift ‘People also ask’ coverage tracked weekly | GEO Get cited by AI Authority backlinks from relevant tech and IoT sites Weekly AI-visibility checks on a fixed buyer-question set Tracking of sources AI tools quote, fed into outreach AI-assistant referral traffic measured weekly in GA4 |

Content built around the buyer’s technical questions
Ten long-form articles were published in September and October 2026, each with meta and image optimization, on topics matched to how technical buyer's search:
| Content cluster | Example topics covered | Articles |
|---|---|---|
| Static IP & secure networking | Static vs dynamic IP for enterprise IoT; public vs private static IP; fixed IP for industrial reliability; static IP SIM vs VPN for remote access | 6 |
| Platform & management | Unified IoT management platforms; white-label IoT platforms for system integrators | 2 |
| IoT fundamentals | IoT vs M2M and what it means for connected business strategy | 1 |
| Device security | Preventing SIM-swapping on enterprise IoT devices | 1 |
Authority building
Off-page work focused on relevant technology and IoT publishers rather than volume for its own sake. Over 110 backlinks were secured in weeks 3–4 of the September–October cycle alone, with every new link checked for relevance, quality and live status each week.
A weekly measurement cadence
Every metric had a tool, a check day and a pre-agreed response if it dropped, with a one-page client summary every Friday.
| Day | What we check | Tools |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Organic traffic, clicks, impressions, CTR | Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console |
| Tuesday | Keyword rankings, ‘People also ask’ coverage | Ahrefs Rank Tracker, Google (UK location) |
| Wednesday | New and lost backlinks, link quality | Ahrefs, Search Console Links report |
| Thursday | Indexed pages, crawl errors, Core Web Vitals | Search Console, PageSpeed Insights |
| Friday | AI visibility (GEO), organic leads, client report | AI assistants, GA4 key events |

| Website AI-readiness | Direct answers, FAQs, schema, author bios, AI crawler access | Top 15 pages in Month 1; all key pages by quarter end |
| AI answer tracking | 30–40 buyer questions tested monthly across 5 AI tools | Brand cited in 28–40 questions by Month 3 |
What made the difference
- Intent before volume. Specific platform and connectivity terms produced the first page-one rankings, while broad, operator-dominated head terms remain a longer-term target.
- Content that answers, not just ranks. Question-led and comparison articles serve Google, ‘People also ask’ boxes and AI assistants at the same time.
- Authority with relevance. Growing referring domains from 384 to 1.2K lifted Domain Rating from 27 to 30 and supported new rankings.
- A weekly operating rhythm. Fixed check days, clear thresholds and a Friday client report kept every metric visible and every drop actioned.
